Remnant Indices for Estimating Postprandial Lipidemia in Young Women

چکیده

Postprandial hyperglycemia is well established as a major risk factor for prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. However, postprandial hyperlipidemia, no definitive criteria exist, fasting values of lipids lipoproteins had limited efficacy estimating lipidemia. In the present study, we performed fat-ingestion test aimed to propose indices lipoprotein metabolism. Methods: Healthy young Japanese women (n=54, age 21.1 ± 1.0 y) with apolipoprotein E phenotype 3/3 were enrolled. They ingested fat cream (OFTT cream™, Jomo, Japan; 1 g/kg cream, 0.35 fat). Venous blood samples taken before (0 h) at 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6 h after ingestion. Results: The serum triglyceride (TG) level peaked returned below baseline h. remnant-like particle-TG (RP-TG) increased h, remnant lipoprotein-cholesterol (RLP-C) 4 B48 did not return B100 concentration slightly decreased TG−RP-TG change during but RP-TG/TG rose 2–6 compared value. RP-TG/RLP-C 2–4 Conclusion: After ingestion, while non-remnant TG was stable, increased. content per particle up from size became smaller. indices, RP-TG/RLP-C, may be useful

Simultaneous ingestion of fructose and fat exacerbates postprandial exogenous lipidemia in young healthy Japanese women.

AIM To investigate the acute effects of the simultaneous ingestion of fructose and fat on postprandial lipoprotein metabolism in healthy young women. METHODS Nine young healthy Japanese women with a normal weight (body mass index: 18.5≤-< 25 kg/m(2)), a normal ovarian cycle and an apolipoprotein E 3/3 phenotype were enrolled as participants and studied on four occasions. At each session, the ...

Atherogenic nature of triglycerides, postprandial lipidemia, and triglyceride-rich remnant lipoproteins.

In addition to low-density lipoproteins, plasma chylomicrons and very-low-density lipoproteins (VLDL) contribute to atherogenesis. When triglyceride-rich particles bind to arterial endothelium and to deendothelialized areas, locally present lipoprotein lipase initiates triglyceride hydrolysis and decreases the size of the adhering particles. Additional changes in composition are brought about b...

The Ingestion of a Fructose-Containing Beverage Combined with Fat Cream Exacerbates Postprandial Lipidemia in Young Healthy Women.

AIM To investigate the acute effects of the ingestion of a fructose-containing beverage combinedwith fat on postprandial lipoprotein metabolism. METHODS Twelve young healthy Japanese women with apolipoprotein E phenotype 3/3 were enrolled in this study. At each of four sessions, the subjects ingested one of four sugar beverages containing fructose and/or glucose (total: 0.5g/kg body weight) c...

Postprandial Hyperlipidemia and Remnant Lipoproteins

Fasting hypertriglyceridemia is positively associated with the morbidity of coronary heart disease (CHD), and postprandial (non-fasting) hypertriglyceridemia is also correlated with the risk status for CHD, which is related to the increase in chylomicron (CM) remnant lipoproteins produced from the intestine. CM remnant particles, as well as oxidized low density lipoprotein (LDL) or very low den...

Impact of Diabetes-Specific Nutritional Formulas versus Oatmeal on Postprandial Glucose, Insulin, GLP-1 and Postprandial Lipidemia

Diabetes-specific nutritional formulas (DSNFs) are frequently used as part of medical nutrition therapy for patients with diabetes. This study aims to evaluate postprandial (PP) effects of 2 DSNFs; Glucerna (GL) and Ultra Glucose Control (UGC) versus oatmeal (OM) on glucose, insulin, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), free fatty acids (FFA) and triglycerides (TG). After an overnight fast, 22 over...
